Body Lift Surgery
A body lift is a Plastic Surgery procedure that contours the body into a desirable silhouette with a circumferential incision (Belt Lipectomy).
A body lift can give dramatic results to the appropriate patient, contouring their lower body to an ideal thigh to waist ratio that is aesthetically pleasing and desirable.
A body lift is most suitable in a patient that has lost a lot of weight and has excess ‘baggy’ skin that needs excision and contouring. The excess skin is located in the abdomen, flanks and back area. The resulting scar is in the low brief line and wraps 360 degrees hence the term “belt lipectomy’ given to the procedure. The typical patient is a massive weight loss patient who had done all the hard work of weight loss and now requires plastic surgical help to restore a desirable hip to waist ratio. The results can be dramatic.
What can be achieved?
The following areas are lifted or contoured:
- Lateral and Medial Thighs
At Artiste Plastic Surgery a Body Lift is performed for the following reasons:
- In Massive weight loss patients
- In patients who have excess sagging skin
- In selected patients who are overweight and would significantly benefit from a body lift
- In those wanting a more sculpted dramatic change to their body
Body Lift Surgery Techniques
A body lift (also known as a belt lipectomy) essential involves a tummy tuck with the incision going circumferentially round the whole body. The lift flattens the tummy as well as lifting the thighs and tightening the back transforming the shape of the lower body.
The procedure will be illustrated in detail and you will be given a detailed instruction sheet on expected post-operative course and potential complications during your consultation with Dr Jack Zoumaras.
It is recommended that you are a stable weight for at least 3-6 months to obtain the best possible results. It is advised to stop smoking at least 6 weeks before and after surgery.
