Poland Sequence

Poland Sequence is a congenital error in the development of the chest wall and upper limb that results in an abnormally developed chest region.

Poland Sequence results in the following to varying degrees of severity:

  • Partial or complete absence of the pectoralis major muscle
  • Absence of other muscles associated with the shoulder girdle
  • Asymmetry in breast and nipple position
  • Finger anomalies

Poland Sequence Technique

The goal of Poland sequence surgery is to restore the missing anatomy (Pectoralis) on the chest wall. This can achieved with custom-made implants or the patient’s own tissue.
