When it comes to nose jobs, officially known as rhinoplasty, most people think of surgery. However, there is another option: non-surgical (liquid) nose jobs.

In this blog, we will discuss the benefits and drawbacks of non-surgical rhinoplasty to help you figure out if it might suit you.

What is a Liquid Rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical nose jobs are achieved with the use of dermal fillers.

These fillers are typically used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, add volume and enhance facial contours. Usually a gel-like substance made of hyaluronic acid, dermal fillers are administered via injection to the target area.

When utilised as part of a nose job, dermal fillers are used to gently reshape the nose into the desired result.

The Benefits of Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Perfect for Subtle Results

The non-surgical rhinoplasty is an excellent choice for individuals seeking subtle corrections, such as asymmetry or mild deformities.

Some examples of cases suitable for liquid nose jobs:

  • Dent on the tip of the nose
  • A short nose that does not match the rest of your facial features
  • Nasal tip deviation or a desire to lift the nasal tip
  • Dent on the bridge of the nose
  • Moderate nasal hump or bridge

Minimal Discomfort

Unlike traditional surgical options, the treatment can be administered quickly with minimal pain. You simply need to endure a few injections and potentially some mild bruising at the injection site.

Little to no Recovery Time

For a surgical rhinoplasty, the recovery time for the treatment is long. You will typically need to stay off work and do minimal activity for 1-2 weeks. The whole healing process can take up to a year.

In comparison, a liquid rhinoplasty requires very little downtime. You can return to work on the same day.

Affordable

In comparison with the steep cost of a surgical option, liquid nose jobs cost very little.

Temporary Effects

Since dermal fillers only last around a year, this means you can experiment with a nose job without committing to an expensive, permanent treatment.

The Downsides of Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Not all Cases are Suitable

Unfortunately, dermal fillers can only be additive, meaning that they cannot resize the nose or remove lumps. This means they cannot help in the following cases:

  • Breathing issues
  • Severe septum deviation
  • Severe hump or bridge
  • Broken nose
  • Large, wide nose

In summary, dramatic changes cannot be achieved by using dermal fillers.

It is not Without Risk

While it is extremely rare, it is important to acknowledge that this procedure still has risks. The biggest one is accidental injection of dermal filler into the blood vessel. This can cause scarring, tissue death and even blindness.

Temporary Effects

Dermal fillers are not permanent, and they wear off after about a year. Therefore, you would have to seek repeat treatment if you wanted to maintain your look.

If you’d rather opt for a permanent solution, surgical nose jobs provide dramatic and enduring nose reshaping.
