breast and body surgery
To mothers, having children is life’s most precious gift. Although a miracle of life, bearing children often results in changes to the breast and body. Ptosis of the breasts, loose muscles and excess skin in the abdomen, and “baby fat” are common traits many women present with following childbirth.
Women find that these changes to the body are often irreversible, even with diet and exercise. Many women decide to help themselves through post pregnancy procedures for the breast and body.

What can be achieved?
Plastic surgery of the breasts, midsection, and lower body can help the changes that have occured following pregnancy. Our plastic surgeons offer a variety of post pregnancy procedures to help you achieve results that are tailored to your anatomy and goals. Liposuction is commonly performed with every post pregnancy procedure. The addition of upper back, arm, thigh, buttock, and vaginal surgery can be made to each surgery.
Breast Augmentation
Through an incision under the breast an implant will be placed to augment the shape and projection of the breast. The options available include shape of implant, location of implant (under, above muscle or dual plane) and projection of implant. See more Breast Augmentation
A lift may also be performed to change the position of the nipple and elevate the breast mound.
Breast Reduction/Mastopexy
The breast tissue and nipple are lifted up to treat ptosis of the breast and nipple. This is achieved through a series of minimal incisions to keep scarring on the breast to a minimum and the breast may also be reduced in size if it is too large. See more Mastopexy and Breast Reduction.
Abdominoplasty
Through a concealed incision made in your brief line the abdominal skin and fat is undermined and excess skin and fat (apron) removed permanently. The underlying muscle layer is also repaired and or tightened to correct the abdominal wall integrity. See more Abdominoplasty.
Liposuction
All post pregnancy patients receive liposuction of the abdominal wall, flanks, inner and outer thighs, upper arms and axilla. See more liposuction.
Fat Transfer/Buttock Lift
The fat aspirated from liposuction can be prepared and injected to augment the buttocks as part of the post pregnancy procedure. See Brazilian Butt Lift
Labiaplasty
The inner labia if in excess, can be reduced in sizie. See labiaplasty

What Can the POst pregnancy procedured achieve
Pregnancy and breastfeeding completely transform the breasts. As the body accommodates for a developing baby, the breast skin begins to stretch and loses elasticity. After breastfeeding, loss of breast volume is a common issue with many women. The breasts are considered a symbol of a woman’s femininity. One or more breast surgery techniques can be combined to change the breasts to lift and change the shape.
Once a woman is pregnant, the body begins to expand and create more room for a growing baby. Excess fat also develops along the midsection. Some women can reduce the size of the abdomen and shed weight through diet and exercise but are left with excess skin and weak abdominal muscles. An abdominoplasty can treat the excess skin, fat and tighten the muscles.
Most women experience weight gain while pregnant. Often, the areas of the body that tend to develop excess fat are the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and hips. Fat that cannot be lost post pregnancy can be addressed with liposuction.
Significant weight gain followed by weight loss leaves many patients with excess skin along the legs, thighs, arms, and back. A combination of techniques can be employed to remove the excess skin of the limbs and back.
Some mothers have a droopy bottom after pregnancy. A Brazilian Buttock Lift can lift the buttock. This includes augmenting and lifting the buttocks. This is achieved by fat transfer from fat removed from unwanted areas (abdomen, flanks, thighs, etc.) and injected into the bottom to lift.
Weight loss and vaginal birth can result in excess skin of the labia and may cause functional problems. A labiaplasty can remove the excess tissue.
Common Concerns
All patients are required to wear a compression garment to support the operated area and to minimise bruising and swelling. Suction drains may be used for the first 24 to 48 hours. Breast surgery patients should wear a sports bra or surgical bra for several weeks after surgery. Most patients will have to stay overnight in hospital for close monitoring. Incisions should be kept clean. Medications are prescribed to aid in healing, ease discomfort, and reduce swelling. It is expected that most patients need up two weeks off work.
Scarring will depend on the incisions used and the procedures/techniques employed. Our surgeons makes the incisions as discreet as possible. Although scarring comes hand in hand with surgery, scars will eventually fade and become less noticeable.
The exact cost of your post pregnancy surgery will be determined during your consultation. Prices vary depending on the extent of correction needed. Other factors such as location, hospital fees, surgical fees, and anaesthesia fees can all affect the ultimate cost of your surgery.
Minor discomfort and tenderness are common following surgery. Medication can be used to control any associated pain.
