FACIAL IMPLANTS
A lot of chin concerns do have congenital craniofacial causes and as a fully trained Specialist Plastic Surgeon Dr Jack Zoumaras is appropriately qualified to assess the chin and its craniofacial relationship with the nose and offer professional advice on management. Often a simple chin augmentation is required. In some circumstances more extensive surgery involving fracturing and moving the lower mandible/chin is required. This may be the case with Class II or III occlusions of the jaw.
Chin Implants surgery procedure:
Through either an intra-oral or submental incision an implant is introduced to augment the chin. The implant is made of either solid silicone or porous polyethylene (Medpor).
Chin Implants are performed for the following reasons:
- A recessive chin
- Small chin
- As part of a balancing facial procedure in Class II or III malocclusion
- As part of a Rhinoplasty procedure
