Otoplasty Surgery

Prominent Ear/Otoplasty

Otoplasty is a Plastic Surgery procedure that reshapes the contour of the ear to reduce its prominence.

Ears form early during embryological development and reach 80% Adult size at age 6. Prominent ear deformity (Bat Ears) is an unfortunate development that can lead to teasing of children at a school age. Dr. Jack Zoumaras can set the ears back as early as age 5 and is one of the few plastic surgeons in Australia to specifically do a fellowship in ear surgery with world renowned ear surgeon Francoise Firmin in Paris.

The surgery involves an incision behind the ear. The cartilage is then accessed, manipulated and set back with sutures to contour the ear to a more attractive natural position.

The procedure will be illustrated in detail and you will be given a detailed instruction sheet on expected post-operative course and potential complications during your consultation with Dr Jack Zoumaras.

It is advised to stop smoking at least 6 weeks before and after surgery.
